New 2020 Mercedes-Benz CLA Unveiled
As with virtually every other premium car out there, tick a few of the options boxes and the CLA’s asking price will rapidly increase and easily exceed the $40,000 mark.
Extra goodies will include a 10.25-inch all-digital instrument cluster and an infotainment touchscreen of the same size, along with Driver Assistance, Parking Assistance, and Multimedia packages.
Fortunately, the price increase comes with abundant updates. The CLA benefits from the MBUX user interface, which ironically debuted on the lesser A-Class.
Aided by artificial intelligence, this system gets next-generation voice control technology and software that can learn. The CLA gains a panorama roof, LED headlamps and taillamps, and 18-inch wheels as standard, while a head-up display is available.
The CLA is also larger than before and boasts that swankier coupe-like look that’s all the rage these days. The latest MBUX infotainment system, featuring a 10.25-inch center screen and linked 10.25-inch instrument cluster also provides functions including conversational voice inputs, touchscreen and touchpad controls, and a range of user-customizable vehicle functions.
Sure, maybe the €15,000 worth of extras it had on it helped seal the deal, but I was able to channel them out and focus on the core experience cars direct says there’s not much keeping CLA shoppers away from the $40K barrier, however.
Apparently, buyers need to order both the Premium Package and the Multimedia Package in order to get the Driver Assistance Package that confers features like active adaptive cruise control, lane-change assist, steering assist, and parking assist.
